How the treatment is performed
The laser beam targets the pigment of the tattoo. The energy released during the laser pulse breaks the pigment into small microscopic particles, which are then absorbed by the lymphatic system and eliminated from the body. The treatment does not damage the surrounding tissue. An anesthetic cream can be applied before the treatment, which lasts about 30 minutes and often needs to be repeated.
Laser used
In our clinic, the procedure is performed using the Synchro Q-Switch4 laser from the Italian manufacturer DEKA.
The Synchro Q-Switch4 laser is a new generation of lasers designed to meet the growing demand for a safe and effective technology for tattoo removal, which was previously impossible. However, this laser now can achieve that, pushing the boundaries of dermatology one step further.
The Synchro QS4 system is an advanced Q-switched Nd:YAG laser for treating tattoos, as well as dermal and epidermal benign pigmented lesions. It achieves optimal results while ensuring complete safety and without any undesirable side effects. Effective removal of multi-colored tattoos is achieved by utilizing a Q-switched laser with four different wavelengths. Its advantages include the highest efficacy, maintaining safety and the absence of adverse effects. The use of the Q-Switch4 laser eliminates the risk of scarring.
It operates based on a pulsed laser with wavelength switching. Different wavelengths are used for each color, resulting in precise outcomes. The disrupted pigment is eliminated by the lymphatic system. By using a larger spot size with deeper penetration pigments located at depth can be targeted without adversely affecting the surrounding tissue.
The laser handpieces come in various sizes, ensuring no overlap in treated areas, and utilize Top-Hat technology (which ensures homogeneous energy density, thereby enhancing efficacy and safety).
Before the procedure
Success for optimal treatment requires a consultation with a physician, a specialist in the specific procedure. They will evaluate the condition of the tattoo, the skin, and the location of your tattoo. Our specialists always offer the most suitable approach, including recovery and contraindications.
After the procedure
After the laser procedure, patients may experience a burning sensation and redness in the treated area. For two weeks following the procedure, visits to tanning salons, sunbathing and intense physical activity are not recommended. After laser treatments it is essential to protect the skin with quality sunscreen.
In many cases for optimal results it is necessary to repeat the procedure three times or combine it with other treatments. The procedure can be repeated after approximately 4–5 weeks. The number of treatments is individualized based on the physician’s recommendations.
