A hemangioma is a benign vascular tumor that appears at birth or shortly thereafter. It consists of small blood vessels and can present as a red growth on any part of the body. Durng childhood it grows rapidly in the first year of life, while in adults’ organisms it tends to grow more slowly. Hemangiomas are usually harmless; however, they can become problematic if they are located in areas of friction or where they interfere with daily activities, such as shaving. In such cases removal is advisable.
The removal of a hemangioma is performed using a high-performance vascular laser that targets the red blood pigment (hemoglobin) in the blood vessels without damaging the surrounding tissue. Through the application of heat, the blood vessels gradually constrict and eventually get absorbed. If the patient is more sensitive to pain, an anesthetic cream can be applied prior to the procedure to make it more comfortable.

How the treatment is performed
Hemangioma is removed using a high-performance vascular laser, whose beam targets the red blood pigment (hemangioma) without damaging the surrounding tissue. Due to the heating effect, the blood vessels shrink and are subsequently absorbed. For individuals who are more sensitive, an anesthetic cream is applied before the procedure.

Before the procedure
Before the procedure it is essential to avoid exposing the skin to the sun; the skin should not be tanned. During the personal consultation with the doctor, the hemangioma can be examined with a dermatoscope.
After the procedure
For quick healing and good regeneration, ensure thorough protection against sunlight by using high-quality sunscreen with a high SPF. Immediately after the procedure it may be redness at the treated area, small scabs may form and swelling may occur. However, the symptoms will subside after a few days.
