Laser removal of growths, warts and fibromas is a modern and effective method that ensures quick and painless removal of skin lesions with minimal risk of scarring and a short healing time. In our clinic, we use the high-performance fractional laser SmartXide2 CO₂ for removing these growths.
Skin growths are not medically concerning but they can be aesthetically unpleasing. These growths include soft skin tags attached to the skin by a stalk, seborrheic keratoses, sebaceous hyperplasia, milia (small cysts that often appear as tiny white bumps on the face) and fibromas, which are benign growths that can occur on various parts of the body.
In our clinic, we also specialize in the removal of warts, which can be bothersome and often appear individually or clustered together. Although warts are not dangerous they can be quite unsightly. Wart removal is performed using a vascular laser. The treatment is suitable for adults and children aged 15 and older, but minors must be accompanied by a parent and have written parental consent for the procedure.

How the treatment is performed
The laser beam precisely targets the specific nevus (growth) or vascular structure without damaging the surrounding tissue. The laser gradually vaporizes individual layers of skin with the energy of the laser being absorbed in the blood pigment hemoglobin, where it converts to thermal energy, causing the wart to vaporize. Thanks to the excellent coagulation properties of the laser there is no bleeding and a small scab forms after the procedure, which later changes into an almost invisible scar. The treatment is usually not painful, but for more sensitive individuals, an anesthetic cream can be applied.
Laser used
In our clinic, we perform procedures using the SmartXide2 CO₂ fractional laser from the Italian manufacturer DEKA. This system represents a true innovation and is the only platform on the market that combines CO₂ and diode lasers, allowing for wide application across various medical fields. SmartXide2 is the result of advanced development of the RF CO₂ laser source and features the unique PSD® (Pulse Shape Design) technology.
The laser utilizes the synergistic effect of the CO₂ laser and radiofrequency (RF) waves, enabling it to effectively penetrate all layers of the skin. The SmartXide2 DOT/RF technology allows customization of all operating parameters and modulation treatments to meet the specific needs of individual patients, ensuring optimal results in line with the properties and target tissues of the skin.
The SmartXide Dot laser targets water in the dermis, which is the supportive layer of the skin containing most of the collagen. The laser works by removing tissue within the dots, with each dot surrounded by a space that allows for thermal damage to the tissue. This thermal damage is crucial for achieving excellent results. The SmartXide Dot laser is set for various treatment types with maximum benefits for the patient; surface issues such as pigment disorders and fine wrinkles are treated closely together, whereas deeper problems like scars and more pronounced skin folds require greater distances between dots and longer time intervals.
Collagen shrinkage due to thermal damage immediately tightens the skin. Importantly, about a month after treatment, there is further improvement in skin firmness and collagen density, which can last up to a year due to the collagen remodeling process. The SmartXide2 DOT/RF technology also eliminates the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the treatment.
Before the procedure
Before any dermatological procedure a professional consultation with a doctor takes place during which the type of skin lesion is determined and a procedure for its removal is proposed. Each growth or wart must be carefully examined with a dermatoscope, which includes an analysis to exclude the possibility of melanoma or other serious issues.
After the procedure
Laser removal of growths offers the advantage of minimal disruption to daily activities. However, it is important to follow the dermatologist’s recommendations, which include avoiding visiting to the pool, sauna or sports activities associated with sweating for about one week after the procedure. The treated area also should be protected from sunlight using high-SPF quality sunscreens to ensure rapid recovery.
Immediately after the procedure may occur redness and on the treated area small scabs may form, which usually fall off within a week. Swimming in the pool and using the sauna are not recommended for one week and it may be necessary to repeat the procedure to achieve optimal results.
